Heart of a Shepherd
I’ve just learned that Heart of a Shepherd will be an Judy Lopez Memorial Award Honor Book. It will be honored at a banquet in Los Angeles hosted by the Women’s National Book Association. It’s a great honor and I’m proud to be on a list that has honored many of my favorite authors over the years.
Heart of a Shepherd has also been nominated for two state book awards–the Nene Award in Hawaii and the Volunteer State Book Award in Tennessee. Thank you to the librarians in these states who work so hard to make these awards happen. It’s great to see my cowboy embraced in places so far from his Oregon home.
I’m so proud to say that my book is on the Spring 2009 Indy Next list, chosen by independent booksellers as a promising title for readers age 9 to 12.
