Second Fiddle
My newest novel will be available March 22, 2011. It’s a girls road trip adventure set in Berlin at the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall. It was great fun to write and should strike a chord with anyone who has ever loved making music with their friends.
I will be presenting a workshop with several writing friends at the NCTE National Conference this November in Orlando. The workshop is called The Other Happily Ever After: the girls’ hero journey. I’ll be signing Advanced Review Copies of Second Fiddle while I’m there. Starting in September I’ll be booking school visits and workshops. Heart of a Shepherd
Heart of a Shepherd is a Judy Lopez Memorial Award Honor Book. It was honored at a banquet in Los Angeles hosted by the Women’s National Book Association. I’m so proud to be on a list that has honored many of my favorite authors over the years. This book has also received the Rodda Book Award from the Church and Synagogue Library Association. It was a pleasure to meet the many congregational librarians who came to Houston for their annual conference in July.
Heart of a Shepherd has also been nominated for two state book awards–the Nene Award in Hawaii and the Volunteer State Book Award in Tennessee. Thank you to the librarians in these states who work so hard to make these awards happen. It’s great to see my cowboy embraced in places so far from his Oregon home.
I’m so proud to say that my book is on the Spring 2009 Indy Next list, chosen by independent booksellers as a promising title for readers age 9 to 12.
