1. Started a blog post for the Mixed Up Files of Middle Grade writers words so far: 282

2. emails about the Oregon Spirit Book Award at the OCTE conference on Friday, mentoring a student with a job shadow project, helping an author friend learn to use Skype, send in photos for the mixed up files blog, and coordinate the October Young Writers Workshop at Powells

3. Prepare workshop for Friday OCTE–Teaching Revision with insights from the editor author relationship

1. read and critique an opening chapter of a novel, the last 2 chapters of a novel and a short historical piece.

Finished chapter 5 but more interestingly I found a stronger reason for my characters motivations and wrote a few paragraphs of dialog that I may be able to use later or at least will serve as a reminder for why Logan’s mom doesn’t want to stay at her sister’s house. words for the day: 818

And today I spent at the OCTE conference where I was awarded the Oregon Spirit Book Award. It was quite an honor to be sharing a stage with these amazing Oregon authors: Allan Say, Eric Kimmel, David Ward, Anne Osterlund, Laini Taylor and Virginia Euwer Wolff.

And then I had the Young Writers Workshop at Powells afterward so once again a zero writing day.
